What others are saying
Mattias is an incredible event photographer! We had him photograph both our engagement party and our wedding at the Spring House on Block Island. Mattias has a calm demeanor that is very soothing at a busy occasion. He is always in the moment and never rushed, which helped us all to relax while taking planned shots with our wedding party and family. Mattias has an amazing eye and is great about stealthily capturing those beautiful, candid moments between you and your loved ones. His photographs have such life to them. The angles and lighting he finds truly take you back to the occasions he photographs even years later. We will forever be grateful we had him at two of the most special days of our lives.

Mattias captured our small, intimate backyard wedding of just 20 people in a way I never thought possible from photographs alone. I entered from a wooded trail, hand-in-hand with my granddaughter who guided me to my husband, and Mattias photographed our walk so naturally that I forgot he was even there. There was a reverence to the way he worked — quiet, respectful, and fully present — that perfectly matched the spirit of our ceremony. The photographs captured the experience with beams of sunlight, shades of green, and the beauty of nature that surrounded us. Nothing feels manufactured or over-edited; they are genuinely full of love and alive. He has a gift of capturing the most meaningful moments. From the start, he made things so easeful and stress free. I am so grateful he was part of our day.

About me
I started my career as a photographer in Stockholm in 2005, trained the old-fashioned way, with hundreds of hours in darkrooms, alongside painting and drawing. My foundation is in photojournalism, and I still shoot internationally for magazines and newspapers. Photography isn't just what I do; it's more or less how I move about in the world.
Since 2011 I've been based in New London, Connecticut, where weddings and events have become the work I look forward to most. There's something about the combination of beauty, chaos, and human emotions that suits a documentary photographer well. Everything I've learned working fast in unpredictable situations, like reading a room, finding the light, and being present without disrupting, gets put to use every time.
